As Triathlete Magazine‘s Editor-in-Chief, I produced 34 print issues with my crack team while overhauling the brand’s digital strategy. We jumped into video, FB Live, added new columns, and celebrated as views and engagement soared across our site and social channels. The magazine got a makeover, too, with eye-catching themed issues that changed the way we talked about the sport. Stephen Colbert even featured one of our covers on The Late Show, a triumph for a niche magazine.
I also led the brand’s charge into live events, partnering with Live Feisty Media to create and support the inaugural Outspoken Women in Triathlon Summit. The summit sold out, and doubled in size the next year.
As Pocket Outdoor Media’s Editorial Director, I revamped the Women’s Running brand, setting a vision of empowerment, community engagement, and social activism, and hiring powerhouse editors who brought it to life, transforming a foundering health rag into the running world’s must-read.
I also oversaw Competitor’s (legally mandated) rebranding. The ask: Create a thriving digital brand with a single editor. The answer: Hire the right person, and build The Well, a bi-weekly themed collection of stories that set PodiumRunner above and apart, reliably generating engagement and advertising income.
